the 786 has the 358 german, neighbors have one that is cabless, great over all tractor, only rated at 80hp, the controls are just like any other 86 series the shifters are on the left side, they are very quiet. i have spent many hours on this tractor and i love it, the 3088 is the same tractor,except the controls are on the left and the sheet metal is different. the engine should last 10,000 hours on good maintenence, as for the ride, the neighbors 786 rides like a caddy, so does there 1486 4 post, there 1086 full cab rides like a tank. parts are are no problem to find, the engine parts will be more expensive than a 400 series block, if you would ever have to get into it. hope this helps!
