Your idler pulleys may have been replaced with smaller diameter pulleys by a previous owner. That will cause some belt mis-alignment. Larger diameter idlers will improve alignment with the drive pulley. Also take a good look at the belt to see if the spine of the belt shows any signs of broken belt cords. Try turning the belt around so it runs in the other direction. Sometimes it helps.
