1959, Farmall, 35HP, rowcrop.... That could only be a Farmall 340. Unless of course he's got the year wrong, which is entirely plausible.

There are definitely plenty of trailing implements out there. You can do practically anything with a tow-behind rig, and in fact the vast majority of modern implements are simply pinned to the drawbar.
