The fact that the crack stopped at the clutch shaft is proof of the hole in the end of the crack stopping the progress, being true. I welded a football size chunk back into a Ford 4000 tranny where the single arm loader mounts. (a friends son was rototilling and failed to make the headland turn at 15 mph. the bucket hit a concrete feed bunker in the tall stuff and the arm snatched a big wad of cast with it. I deep "V"ed the joint and used nickel rod with DCRP to fill the "V". after grinding and painting it was invisible. The loader was bolted back on and is still working!
