When I read Dave BN's response I relived the PTO repair on my Super A :-( Getting the old seal out, even with the shaft removed, wasn't an easy job. Sheet metal screws just didn't do it.
Mine has no belt pulley, so I cannot comment on that. However, in general, you can place the seal a bit more inward so that the lip of the seal does not ride on the worn spot on the shaft or bushing. Especially the new PTO shaft seal is a lot thinner than the original one and hence can be shifted as you please.
