Heck, I'd just hook an implement to it to check the high unlatch and maybe just an open free cylinder to make sure the low grab is okay (although, the low side would automatically be there if you adjust the heavy load 'unhook' first).

Adjust that screw so that it will hold in the engaged position until your load bottoms out. It should lock in when operated to either direction.

Yes, you have to adjust each remote valve if you've had it apart. It is really just a question of how much tension to put on that little spring.
