The original M Farmall was rated at 36 horsepower. Most of them recieved an overbore kit when it was time for a rebuild because it resulted in more power with no extra cost. My 1940 M easily puts out 46 horsepower, which matches the WD-45, but the M is heavier, and the 38 inch rear rubber will walk over the ground easier than the smaller tires on the WD. I am 6 feet tall, with long legs, I never was comfortable riding a WD, but the M fits me quite well. When comparing Allis to Farmall, neither is any better or any worse. One brand will do certain things better, the other will do other things better. It's all about preferances.
