The bottom end of the shift lever has worn out and allowed the lever to jump out of the shifting rails. Pull the lever out, reach down in the hole with a large screwdriver or pry bar, and line up the notches in the shift rails. You can then put the lever back in, and it should be good enough to at least test drive the tractor, but shift it very slowly. The lever itself will need repaired, but you can address that issue later.
