The float must float. There may be a pinhole in the brass, or a crack. Pull the float (just the bottom half of the carb) and shake it. If it sloshes it is full of gasoline. To fix it is simple if you solder well. do the following outside. use a soldering IRON, not a gun with a trigger. Small size is ok 45-80watts. heat the float and turn it over a few times and fuel will squirt out of a hole/crack. place this as low as possible to drive out liquid fuel. Continue heating until there is no more comming out Use pulses of heat so as not to ruin existing solder. Use steel wool to brighten the hole area. Use a flux core solder, and cover the hole with a small well "wetted" patch. Do this with least heat to avoid blowing air out the hole causing a leak in the solder. Good as new, JimN
