Removing pitman pulley shaft

I need to remove the bearings, shaft, pulley, etc from an IH sicle mower. They are the unit that is belt driven from the pto shaft and moves the pitman arm. I have removed the cover from the front side (4 bolts and shims) and the pitman arm from the back side. I have tapped on the shaft but it seems solid.
Can anyone help me on how to get this shaft out?
