A piece of 3/8 ready rod with a 3-1/2" wire wheel nutted to the end, and mounted in a 1/2" drill (to keep speed down some) will clean out the tube. LPS spray, or Moly antisieze brushed on will eliminate future grief. Be sure to clean off exterior surfaces with laquer thinner befor priming. Either rust inhibitor will cause paint not to stick. Tighten clamps correctly, and be sure through bolts are a good fit in their holes.
