Thanks for the detailed reply. I will go through it when I am in front of the tractor, but I think that I have checked most or all of the "external" things. The battery is new, and charges fine using a charger.

I will probably open up th generator to check the brushes and commutator.

BTW, isn"t John Deere Green darker than Farmall Red? :)
