in my opinnion the 312 is the toughest motor ih ever built - 10 my 686 will start without help, fuel eff easy on fuel. i ran my first 666 312 dsl 210 dynoed hp pulled 18 ft 470 disc , 12 foot chissel plow over 600 acres for 5 seasons , broke one set of spider gears and cross,in 1978 i had a 666 we farmstock pulled with a 13 mm rotery pump we beat a lot of 1066.s and 4430 jds, same tractor i won atpa points with in 1994. my experence with the 310 , they are very fuel eff for there hp but very exp to work on , we had a plate made and put a 37 roosamaster pump on a 706 german i had made a nice starten 310 injection pump way overpriced , they wont start,
