I think Hugh has your problem pegged. But if not you do not have to remove the deck, Just remove the bolts holding the pto housing to the frame and pull it straight out. Its a simple mechinism and your problem should be plain to see. BTW you have to drain some gear oil or park the tractor with the front end low or you will end up with an oil spill. Good Luck!
