Sounds like you have a different problem then I had. I would start with checking out the distributor and make sure it is turning when the engine turns with the starter. If that seems to be in order them I would guess some electrical component is on the blink. Almost have to change them all out to find it unless you have some spare items around you can test with. The coil, condenser, problem with points are all possibilities along with the cap and rotor. Just sounds like no spark to the plugs for some reason. Make sure the coil to distributor wire is making good contact at both ends. Also check the two small wires on the coil "+ and -" are ok and making good contact.
