PTO Problem on IH 350 Utility

I am having a problem with my pto it acts like a slipping clutch. I called Bates Corp in Northern Indiana and they tell me it will cost in excess of $500.00 for the parts. Does anyone know about these? I am told by Bates there are 2 diffrent kinds. 1 with a band and 1 with plates. Supposedly I have the 1 with plates. Is there any adjustement ect. How about a used one out there. Any help would be great...Don
