Well, if you did find a U-6, it should be the same as an M, a 248. All the printed information I have found and the questions I have asked here say that. I have 3 and they are not all 248's. One is a 264. As for the cylinder head, it could be from an 248 or from a 264 or from a 281 depending on what may have been changed though the years. I one of my U-6's has a reman head, having the casting number ground off smooth and being stamped over. As far as I can tell, the powerplant engines are a kind of gray area that not too many people know to much information about. If you have any questions, let me know I may be of some help as I have some experience with them.
