A slipping sprague wouldn't explain loss of forward motion when the steering wheel is cranked over, or the brakes are applied. Both those actions bleed off hydraulic pressure. If the TA were mechanical, sprague-driven, the tractor would not stop due to loss of hydraulic pressure. I'll agree, the TA unit could very well be toast, but the MCV is the first thing to check because it's a whole lot easier and cheaper to fix. It usually needs servicing when the TA goes out anyway...
