TxJim There are two different hydraulic systems for the 986 so I would think people would need to know the year. I think they changed in 1981. But can't think why the earler models would act like that, because the only thing in common between the steering and hitch is the oil and filter, if the steering pump was weak and the hitch robed the steering of oil then you should loose brakes and TA. You might try and see if you do loose brakes and TA.
