both your previous responses have good input. The majority of the pan bolts are 5/16NC x 3/4" (which should also cover the center bolt front and back). The four longer bolts go on either side of the center bolts (front and back). They go through the pot metal blocks (rectangular shapped pieces that complete the oil pan sealing surface [as well as bottom of rear main seal retainer and front cover] but are removable to allow the crankshaft main caps to come off) and actually thread into the crankcase farther up. The center positions are by far the weakest and strip the easiest. If you end up machining on the blocks, you should be able to pull the blocks by dropping the pan (there will be three bolts at the bottom of the front cover and the rear seal retainer). Take a look at the back bolts to verify there's enough room behind the flywheel though? And I'm with CNKS, I have yet to stop the leaks even with all the bolts in place ;) Stan(VA).
