If Case dealer/mechanic is right and you have water in the system, consider yourself lucky that you didn't break somethin' expensive, the least of which might be your hydraulic pump. Your trans/dif is the reservoir for the Hy-Tran hydraulic fluid. That water can be from condensation or, if the tractor has to sit outside, any number of leaks (the shift lever for example). Water is more dense than oil, so the oil floats, the water sinks. Consider having just enough water in the bottom to freeze solid (water does that, ya know) and lock up your ring gears. Now put you tractor in gear and let out the clutch easy. Clutch slips, or the motor dies. So fire it back up and try again, this time throttle it up and let out the clutch a little faster. BANG!!! You just broke it BAD in the most expensive place.
