Two-way on 31 loader.

I have 1/2" pipe screwed into the cylinder tops of a #31 loader that I got awhile ago. Not sure if I can run hose to these pipes for pressure down or not. Will these old hydraulic cylinders work as two way?

First thought that these would be for a vent, but noticed the left side has a section of pipe going almost all the way down the cylinder like somebody had it hooked up for hose. Not sure.
