Allen, I looked at my 966 Operator's manual. Page 63. "Two basic adjustable axle attachments are available.: One provides a tread range of 54 to 78 inches. The other a tread range of 60 to 84 inches". But I don't see how that one is going out 12 inches from minimum. What are you set at on that right side? I'd go back to that second hole. That;s a 64 inch tread width isn;t it? And even that is plenty wide for row cropping 38 inch rows (front that is). Also keep in mind that tie rod is not a suspension weight bearing assembly, only has compression and tension forces. Another note in the manual states that "On tractors equipped with 6.5 to 9.5 section width tires, the front wheels must always be assembled with the concave side in, when the tractor is carrying a heavy front end weight."
