I use 14 AWG stranded for everything. The jacket is flexible rubber - I was able to get (new) scraps from a power plant renovation. As far as length: for each run to the front of the tractor I measure from the base of the seat to the radiator, then add a couple of feet. The extra parts you cut off could be used for jumpers or short runs. I've done this with my H, M, Cub, and BN. Get a jacket that's flexible and oil resistant.
