skycarp, Learn from my mistake: when putting the tractor back together, the engine side should slide on the shaft splines nice and easy...if you've got it lined up and supported correctly, you should be able to slide the two pieces together without having to use the bolts to snug 'em up. If you have to put a lot of pressure on any of those main bolts (other than the final torquing), the clutch disk isn't aligned on the splines. (Put enough force on those bolts when the disk isn't aligned with the shaft's splines, and you can bend the clutch disk. Put even more force on one side, and you could break the cast flange on the engine block. Don't ask how I know...) Feel free to email with other questions if you like -- I've split my C three times now...once the wrong way, and twice since the right way. At least I learn ;-). - David
