Yup, the W-6s and Ms were built on the same assembly line- pretty much the same tractor. IH used to built Farmall As and Bs on the same line as the crawlers at Chicago Tractor Works!

The 1941 photos show the workers with masks. Of course the paint guys at the Case IH factory a few years ago didn't wear masks anymore- the robots did the actual spraying, the guys did the masking, maintained the equipment, and made sure the paint equipment worked.

These photographs are from the Wisconsin HIstorical Society website, with scanning paid for by the IH Collector's Club fundraising.
