That's right, there is never a fuse in the starter circuit. If there was it would blow every time you hit the starter. If you had a 300 amp fuse it would blow on a cold morning, etc. You have to disconnect the battery post if you are messing around close enough to cause trouble. I just put a knife switch on the starter post of my S-M but had to modify it. It was made for a batt post but the battery is in an enclosed box under the seat, not too handy.
