There is no pressure in the radiator, so the washer, gasket or nut only has to keep splashing to a minimum. Mine has a couple of washers under the wingnut. If your wingnut doesn't screw down all the way, use a tap and die set to put more threads on the bolt. I will look in my parts catalog to see if it shows anything more exotic than a washer and repost if it does.
