Since you bought a new steering wheel, I assume you arent interested in salvaging the old one. If that is so, then if a wheel puller doesn"t pull it off, which in my case it did not, you can take a hack saw and cut through the hub at the keyway. This will split the hub without putting saw marks in the steering shaft. Another issue may be the retaining nut which if it doesnt screw of easily, may be better to split it also and install a new nut. It is wise to clean up the threads before putting on a new nut as many times the end of the threads on the shaft may be buggered up from a lot of years of abuse.
