MTA remotes

Hi guys! The picture shows the remotes on my MTA. I have it in my head that these are to make hook-up EASIER and disconnect cleanly if pulled on. Hooking these up is a bear! I have to completely disassemble what is in the picture. There is no comparable assembly on my remote cylinder. I think there should be and that if I had it I could hook up faster and without wrenches. Am I right about there being another half to this and, if so, where do I find one?
