You could replace those steel hydraulic lines with high pressure hose and would be easier to work with. Any auto parts store that has Alemite, Weatherhead or Aeroquip hose can fabricate a replacement hydraulic line. Our local auto store has been making them for years. We bought the hose and made our own hoses and we bought the replacement end fittings too. The Air Force has used high pressure hose for years in their planes. Nothing cheap is used on those planes.
