The guy who had my 560 Diesel switched from two 6 volt batteries in series to two 12 volt batteries in parallel. The glow plugs work great and it really turns a lot better than I ever remember my Dad's old 560 doing. I think you will not regret using two 12 volt batteries in a parallel hook up. I know I have large batteries with about 700 CCA each but you may not need that much. The lower the number the cable size is the better off you will be. Try a two or one.
