Disk plows do the same thing as a moldboard, they invert the soil and bury residue. We had an H/M 150 3 disk semi-mounted "breaking plow" on our H. Since the disks turn, it makes the 2 plow H into a 3 plow. I am originally from south Texas, very common in that area and other parts of the south. They cannot be used in as wet a soil as can a moldboard, as the disks don't scour as well. They are better suited for drier soils, but if the soil is too dry they don't penetrate very well.
