We used to have a 504D with tricycle front. Good cultivator tractor, very economical, but can be a hard starter. The biggest problem we had was with the steering linkage. A very poor design, with a lot of ujoints, turns and twists. Always shearing the half moon key and will leave you with no steering, very dangerous if you are traveling down the road--makes the pucker factor go way up. As with most farmalls, I would guess the TA is probably shot if it has one.
