Randy: The 230 was supposedly a row crop tractor, great for two row cultivating and planting. A good many of them were equiped with bean pullers, for windrowing dried beans for harvesting. Livestock farmers loved them for mowing and raking hay. I'd be willing to bet C, SC, 200, 230 and 240 have raked more acres of hay than any other tractor. They were all basically the same power train and chassis.

Where I grew up mainly livestock farms, farmers who farmed with one tractor, quite often did it with one of these tractors. They did have some competition from other makes, however I question if much of it was very serious competition.
