I used several links of chain of many sizes. I turned it for several
hours. The tank was lilly clean in all areas I could see through
the fill opening.

The solvent I used was lacquer thinner. I am not a fan of stong
acid because it needs to be completely neutralized. Phosphoric
acid is mild enough that it will work, but not need to be
neutralized.
