Cutting the hood is an offense punishable by death. Please take the advice of the knowledgeable gents below.

I used a Hitachi 14231 on my H, and my dad's M has a standard Delco one-wire alternator. It was a minimal effort to get them to fit under the hood in both cases.

Please please please do not cut the hood.
