I have a 340 Utility and it has two levers in the place you mentioned - it was an option - one lever for each external hydraulic connection. Another option gave three levers. I believe it was for either a rear hydraulics connection, or for the Fast Hitch, although my Fast Hitch has a lever next to the driver's seat. I found JPTractor.com has a good supply of used 340 parts, probably 240 as well. I purchased a replacement front axle and had it shipped from Mo to NJ.
