Raffo: If your absolutely sure engine is free, and yes heed others warning on this. Once you can turn in a complete revolution by wrench then maybe try the tow start. I know what your facing with diesels from that era. Those 460 and 560 were miserable to bleed, some how they did improve that on later 06 and 56 models. I had a 560 and between glow plugs and starter and length of time to bleed. If you knew or were not sure pump was out of fuel, the most economical move was hook on and tow start. Gear sequence will not matter a whole lot if compression is good your only going to sucessfull tow starting in 4th or 5th, direct on TA. Anything lower than 4th tires will probably slide.
