6 volt 140 year

I have a 140 with no serial number. It does not have a clutch switch to lock out the starter and has a rod that goes down to the starter switch which is mounted on the starter. I saw in an operators manual that this indicated a 6 volt tractor that was early production. Later 140s had the switch moved up to the dash, and would not start unless you depressed the clutch. Can anyone tell me the years this configuration was produced?
