I know what they mean by lowering the loader with the engine off....mine overflowed when I lowered it shut down.It was rather foamy anyway (bad pump seal I learn)but it never did that when running.Of course its single acting rams,so maybe that had something to do with it.
As for the vent,there needs to be a system vent somewhere....remote or a hole in a filler cap.The air pressure needs to be equalized when fluid is coming out and going back in.
