An easy way to make sure to make sure is to bring #1 up to top dead center on the compression stroke and see where the rotor is pointing.This should be at the factory location of #1 towards the radiator.However if someone has moved the distributor and the rotor is no longer at that position just plug in #1 wire to where the rotor is pointing now and continue wiring cap from there according to the firing order.This procedure will work on any gas engine no matter make,model,etc..
