Like magman said, first make sure that the gasket surface is flat, those oil pans often get warped around the bolt holes due to someone overtightening the bolts. Also, make sure that all of the old gasket has been removed, along with the crud that is usually present. Gasket mating surfaces have got to be clean and flat. If all else fails, don't be afraid to use some silicon gasket sealer in addition to the gasket.
