Breakin with today's much better oil can take as much as 15-20 hrs or longer. I would worry if in a month of use it didn't stop. I don't know how much attention was paid to the valve stems to guide clearance, but it should be to spec. If the oil puffs only at startup, I would be focusing on the valve area. Prolonged idleing then full throttle can also indicate stem loosness. Perfect circle valve seals are cheap easy and not a tear down. they regulate oil flow nicely. Let it run in more befor deciding.
