DAR, Get a shop manual first. Pull your injectors out and have them tested. The manual will tell you break out pressure. Chances are if the tractor has a lot of hours on it, the injectors will break out to soon. This means they are starting to spray before the engine has built up maximum compression, thus resulting in hard starting. Of course, there is whole bunch of other things that can cause hard starting like a poor starter, bad battery cables, poor connections, a just plain tired engine with low compression, worn exhaust valve seats causing valves to recess to far into the head(resulting in low compression). Anyway the injectors are a good place to start.
