I have had a slight rattle under the battery of my M tractor at idle, that only happens when the clutch is engaged. At first I thought there was something wrong with the trans. pilot bearing. I dropped the hydraulic pump and discovered there is looseness in the drive coupling. This is the coupling on the shaft that goes from the clutch back to the transmission, the one that uses four bolts and rubber washers. There is enough play that I can twist the shaft back and forth and up and down about 1/4 inch or so. I am thinking the wear is more in the four bolt holes in the "center" piece of this coupling, and maybe some in the bolts. Can someone tell me how much play is too much in this coupler? I truly am grateful for any advice!
