1/ Start with a good battery
2/ Use 1/0 cables
3/ Keep the connections clean, bright & tight
4/ Keep the battery charged, do not allow it to stay in a discharged condition.
5/ Keep the tractor tuned up, it's not a hard starter, even by hand
6/ A little luck doesn't hurt either ;^)

This battery was purchased in the fall of 1994.
To be fair, it is probably in it's final year, but it hasn't yet failed to start the tractor.
