Congratulations on your "new toy" Paul....sounds like you may have gotten yourself a good one!! It's not likely running the tractor from a 12 volt battery caused any harm to the generator, etc. However the fact it's now got a 12 volt battery suggests something is wrong with the charging system. (And we're ready to help you figure it out...) One other concern: Unless the PO stuck a ballast resistor in the primary ahead of the coil, it's possible points may have suffered damage (burned) from overheating. So an ignition tune up kit will be $20 well spent! Now get your digital camera software working and post us some pix!!
