It's entirely possible that the 1066 in question has never seen a weight bracket. I'm about 125 miles East of Allan, and around these parts I don't remember ever seeing a large IH tractor with weight brackets. The 886 we bought new didn't have one, and the 966 I remember our neighbors having didn't either. Here in the Nebraska Sandhills it's grass country, not much tillage goes on, and even less went on back when these IH's were new. These tractors primarily were used to pull haysleds to feed stacks of hay to cattle- rolling loads, and the extra ballast wasn't neccessary. Plus, a great number of them were also fitted with either a loader or a dozer blade.
