Good start with Allan's comment below. While its knocking in neutral go around it with a broom stick, long screwdriver etc. Hold one end of the stick etc. tight to your ear (with your thumb between it and your ear) probe the other end onto parts of the transmission, clutch housing etc. Where you find the noise to be the loudest will be closest to the location of the problem.
